The team at S.C. Hondros & Associates,
Inc. worked closely with Aydin
Tekin and Sami Tekin, owners of
Ballantyne Jewelers, to design and
build their new 7,100 s.f. elegant
retail space in the Toringdon area of
Ballantyne in South Charlotte. The
interior of the store, designed by
Grid 3 International of New York
City, features wood paneled doors
and walls, marble tile floors and
winding wood and glass display
cases. The space incorporates the
main showroom, private viewing
rooms, offices, jewelers’ workroom,
vault, and break room.
The in-house design team at S.C.
Hondros & Associates, Inc. generated
several schematic plans to present
to the Tekin family to ensure
that their vision was realized in the
design of their new store. The elegant
building finishes complement the sophistication and stylishness of
the jewelry and custom work designed,
fabricated, and sold in the
store. Gypsum board radius sofitts at
the ceiling mirror the layout of the
showcases below to create a dramatic
effect.
The jewelry store encompasses
roughly one half of the brick veneer
shell building, with the second half
ready to upfit for an office or retail
tenant. Design and construction
challenges were overcome in order
for the building to complement the
existing architecture of Toringdon
and to develop a striking design at an
economical price.
